Nice photos from the BVIs - Charter Yacht Promenade

My friend Kerry, owner-operator of the sailing-diving charter yacht Promenade, has some of her family aboard this week for her first yacht charter of the season.

Here's a couple of interesting photos they have taken this week...

Fishing Bat

Dolphin

Diver silhouette

Blue Coral

Lobster

We hope to find some critters soon. We haven't been able to try our new lobster snare that Bob made due to sinus issues :(

These bushwackers sure look tasty!

Here's a video of the Charter Yacht Promenade 'cuz you might like to see who I talking about from time to time...

If you are interested in chartering Promenade contact Paradise Connections Yacht Charters.  Promenade has 2 cabins available on their cabin week (beginning February 13 for either 6 or 10 nights), plus they are having a special all-inclusive deal for the summer and take groups of up to ten guests...

We only make a few pennies on purchases but everything helps and we appreciate it!

Rain Rain GO AWAY!

Guess what... Yes! More RAIN...

The islands are nice and green now.  WAPA on St Thomas has some kind of water generating problem, but I hope they have been able to catch all this rain we've been having.

My friend Kerry, owner-operator of the charter yacht PROMENADE, took a few photos for her blog.

Wednesday in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas

Thursday in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas

Probably looked pretty much the same today, too :)

Since we are talking about depressing weather, did you see this on Dr. Jeff Masters' WunderBlog ???
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued its 2010 Atlantic hurricane season forecast today. NOAA forecasts a very active and possibly hyperactive season. They give an 85% chance of an above-normal season, a 10% chance of a near-normal season, and just a 5% chance of a below-normal season. NOAA predicts a 70% chance that there will be 14 - 23 named storms, 8 - 14 hurricanes, and 3 - 7 major hurricanes, with an Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) in the 155% - 270% of normal range. If we take the midpoint of these numbers, NOAA is calling for 18.5 named storms, 11 hurricanes, 5 major hurricanes, and an ACE index 210% of normal. A season with an ACE index over 175% is considered "hyperactive." An average season has 10 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 intense hurricanes.
This is an interesting tidbit from NOAA...

We received an email from a client in Reno Nevada this morning. He said that he awoke this morning to 2 inches of snow and 31 degrees. I'm surprised as it's almost June! His local news media said that this May has been the coldest on record in 125 years...

This afternoon I had a phone call from the Irish Hotel Barge Shannon Princess. I was complaining about all the rain we've been having in tropical paradise, and he said that they had a glorious and sunny day on the Emerald Isle of Ireland.

St Thomas - Thanks Promenade

Yesterday morning (Monday) I sent a quick email to Lisa of the charter trimaran Promenade asking if she could pick up 6 12-packs of Coke for us when she goes to Cost-U-Less.  I thought I was probably too late and that they would be gone before receiving my request.

In the evening we were pleasantly surprised to see Rich & Lisa dinghying over to us with a stack of Coke Zero and Fresca boxes.  That was so nice of them and we really appreciate it.

Here are a few photos that Lisa took of us...

Caught relaxing on the foredeck

Buffy was being very sociable

Even Willow came out to say hello

Thanks for the photos.  Have a safe trip back to Tortola and hope to see you soon!

St Thomas Sunday - Promenade is here!

Yesterday (Sunday) we went to the local K-Mart and bought a few things, then we went to the fuel dock at the Yacht Haven Marina.  They are open until 4:30pm on Sundays so that was useful.

We got a couple jerrycans of water ($0.20/gallon) and some gasoline ($3.37/gallon). This time we asked for a receipt :)

We also went to Wendy's because we wanted a Chili & Cheese baked potato.  Again, they didn't have chili... I don't know about potatoes :)

Just as we were returning to So It Goes, Bob sees a schooner and then he recognizes that it's the trimaran Promenade... COOL!

My camera was having problems, but you can still make it out OK

They were anchoring right behind us so we told Lisa who had just dropped the anchor (of course) that DPNR made us move from there and they should move up a bit. I hoped they didn't think I was trying to get rid of them :)

Later, Lisa & Rich came over in the dinghy.  Buffy was very friendly and played with Lisa.  Willow even got up the nerve to come out a couple of times and check things out.

By the way, Promenade is still available for New Years!

CHARTER YACHT "TOY" SUGGESTIONS

I haven't been horseback riding in almost 30 years. There's just not enough room for a horse aboard our CAL-34 So It Goes... not with two kittens anyway :)

So, how about a Horse Simulator? Still too big for us, but it would be a nifty "toy" for the larger boats at the next charter yacht show!

Horse simulator
The £40,000 virtual reality riding machine combines a mechanical horse with a host of electronic sensors and a screen, to recreate the joys of an outdoor ride without the need for mucking out.

Here's another cool item that we saw last month in the Lagoon just inside of Marigot, St. Martin: The BBQ Donut.

BBQ Donut

You can just see the outboard behind the support for the beach umbrella. Perhaps you can use the umbrella as a sail. Have it be a riding sail so the "bow" of the donut is facing into the wind so the smoke from the central BBQ is always blowing "aft". Can you have a bow on a round raft???

I think this would be the perfect complement to the Sail Dive Charter Trimaran PROMENADE, whose "Power Lounger" was the hit of last November's St. Thomas Charter Yacht Show.

Promenades Power Lounger

Just raft those two babies together and you have the makings of an unforgettable party!

MORE PHOTOS FROM PROMENADE

I just had to post these two wonderful pictures that Kerry, owner of the charter yacht, PROMENADE, took of starfish. This is becoming the Kerry-Promenade Photo Blog :)

Once again, remember to play nice and give her credit if you must "borrow" these pictures... :)

Promenade is a charter boat that we highly recommend AND they are still available for Christmas week through Dec.28th
