Friday BOAT Cat Blogging - Surf's Up!

I heard a bit of suspicious cat noise coming from the salon last night, but I was too lazy to get out of bed to investigate.

Buffy & Willow must have been surfing the net as they left this photo on my desktop.

Looks like they were checking out the Surfy Surfy website!

Heard there's supposed to be some good surfing this weekend in St Croix, so maybe this is a hint :)

George Harrison's birthday Here Comes the Sun

Today would have been George Harrison's 67th birthday (born: February 25, 1943).

I remember way back when, sitting in the kitchen as a kid with my Mom's radio playing Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and wondering what would become of the Beatles when they reached that unimaginable age. I recently heard Ringo Starr on Little Steven's Underground Garage and Ringo is still going strong (Ringo will be 70 on July 7th).

One of the things I would do towards the end of each winter was to play the various Beatles "sun" songs (Here Comes the Sun, Good Day Sunshine, etc.).

So, for those of you who need a little sunshine and the positive vibes associated with it all, have a listen.

You can download Here Comes the Sun from Amazon for only $0.99 which is well worth the 3-minute song and the lasting after effects it provides.

Good Experience OFFSHORE MARINE St Thomas USVI

We had a good experience yesterday that I'd like to share...

The day before yesterday we lost overboard the piece off the end of our dinghy pump hose... you know, that special adaptor necessary to inflate your Caribe dinghy? Bob is very good at finding things underwater but we couldn't look for it right away because we were going to catch a bus to go up to the mall.

Yesterday we went to St Croix Marine and they didn't have the Caribe adaptor as they are not a Caribe dealer. We then went online to check West & Defender.  Then we decided "What the heck? Let's call Offshore Marine in St Thomas and see what they have to offer."

Chuck in the parts department was very helpful. He said that they had just received a shipment of these thingies the previous day. Well, that's handy for us! As we are in St Croix, Chuck drove down and put it on the seaplane. Such service! The seaplane is still only $10 to ship a small package like this. It is faster and less expensive than Express Mail.

So, thank you Chuck & Harold.

Perfect Butt

Bob has been talking a bit the past couple of days (Feb. 8th & 9th ) about tools on his BoatBits blog... what we have & what we'd like, etc.

He forgot to mention that he has the perfect butt...

Sorry, I just couldn't let that pass... Tee hee :)

Friday BOAT Cat Blogging

Yesterday evening, after sundown but while still light out, the bird that we've been seeing in the early evening went and perched on the spreaders in the boat in front of us.  It looked like some sort of hawk.

Buffy saw it and was doing her "bird thing"...

While Willow was more interested in what was happening in the water over the side...

It's almost 6pm and past the time to go outside with the cats... especially since we've been hearing the bird chirping away! Maybe we'll see a turtle, or a jumping ray...

Have a good one!

Happy Carrot Cake Day - February 3

We'd like to wish you a Happy Carrot Cake Day which falls the day after Groundhog Day... Wow, what a week :)

Yesterday, we went to Schooner Bay Market and their carrots left much to be desired so we left them to succumb in peace. Today we hiked up to Pueblo at Golden Rock shopping center and their carrots were not desirable either.  Neither store had SaraLee-type cakes in their dairy case... So It Goes...

Here are two interesting recipes from Joy the Baker

I must say that I was disappointed that Joy did not have a post today for National Carrot Cake Day, although the items above look quite tasty (click on their links to check them out!).

We enjoy Joy the Baker's entertaining and informative blog. Lots of recipes with good photos! Her most recent post of February 1st is titled "My Top 10 Cookie Recipes".

I hope you'll be able to enjoy this holiday in style :)

Groundhog Day tomorrow

Can you believe it is Groundhog Day tomorrow... ALREADY???

UPDATE:  FEBRUARY 2, 2010:  NEWSFLASH from http://www.visitpa.com
The Prognosticator of Prognosticators, Punxsutawney Phil proclaimed, "If you want to know next, you must read my text. As the sky shines bright above me, my shadow I see beside me. So six more weeks of winter it will be." They also reported that over 26,000 people received Phil's 2010 prediction via text message!
Have you made your Groundhog cookies, yet? A popular treat and they will be served at the banquet in Punxsy Groundhog Day Eve.

Here's a LINK to the recipe found at Penzeys One Magazine

Not sure what Phil's going to think of the weather when he wakes up tomorrow. This is what their weather sticker said at 9:30am EST this morning...

So, if it's like that tomorrow morning, I won't blame Phil for going back to bed with his head under the covers :)
