Yesterday, when we filled up some jerry cans at the Port Royale Marina in Marigot, we were told that starting Monday, 27 July 2009, the Sandy Ground Bridge (French side of St Martin) will only open twice a day at 8:15am and 5:30pm (like Sunday schedule) from tomorrow through August.
In September, it will be completely closed and will not open as they are dismantling bits to ship off to Guadeloupe for maintenance.
I don't have specific dates on this, but it's something to be aware of.
I suppose in September you can transit the Dutch bridge and go over to the French side of the lagoon where anchoring is free. You'll probably have to pay the Dutch bridge fee, and I expect that they (SLAC) might charge you the weekly Dutch anchoring fee as well for dropping your anchor while you wait for the bridge opening. See Dutch fees from a previous post HERE
So It Goes :)
